Susannah Project- "In Search of Susannah"
Upon the discovery of a female convict at the launch of our Family Tree in 1969, my mother, Jennifer Lane, was curious to know more about her great-great-great-grandmother. A search spanning fifty years led her to write a fascinating story about her convict ancestor Susannah Smith and her life in England before she was transported to NSW in 1802 -1803 for seven years. Shortly before Mum passed away, she asked me to illustrate and publish her story. I was honoured to help, and I promised her I would. Sadly, she died before her work could be realised.
Below are some of the artworks used to illustrate Jennifer's story. Swipe across.
The techniques I used to create these artworks include: Cliche verde, photopolymer plates, chine colle, screen printing, collage and gouache.
The book is yet to be published. When it is available I will put up a link.
